And I meant to say that during ‘shimmy shimmy’ you put your hands on your knees, knock your knees and swap your hands like in the charleston. During ‘coco pop’ and ‘pow’ you throw your hands in the air. I first heard this from my nieces beside the Blue Pool in Devon. xxx

We used to play a game that sounds similar to Chinese jumpe rope in front of my house where you put elastic round your ankles, standing opposite a friend. We’d skip and make patterns. The thing is, this was in Britain.

thanks for your help about the Jacks rhymes and actually yes a sort of equivalent game was in France also. We call this ” play at knuckle bones” and as you figure , instead of jacks , things looking like sort of knuckle bones were thrown in the air but I don’t remember neither the material nor the the game itself. I guess this was smething from the previous generations.

Does anyone remember how to do the two-person “hand combos” that we used to do with chinese jumpropes? I can remember the first two moves, but draw a blank after that. Help!!
