Reading this brought back amazing memories – my 5 and 6 year old daughters have been learning some jumprope/hand clapping rhymes and I was trying to teach them some I remembered from my youth – this helped me fill in a lot of holes. Some I remember but didn’t see here are: So-So and So-So Sitting in a tree K-I-S-S-I-N-G First comes Love Then comes marriage Then comes So-So in a baby carriage Sucking his thumb Wetting his pants Doing the hula hula dance! Does anyone remember: Oh I wish I was a little bottle of Coke (repeat) I’d go slurpy, slurpy, slurpy and make everybody burpy Oh I wish I was a little bottle of Coke Oh I wish I was a little bar of soap (repeat) I’d go slidey, slidey, slidey, under everybody’s nightie Oh I wish I was a little bar of soap Oh I wish I was a little piece of glass (repeat) I’d go cut-ty, cut-ty, cut-ty, and make everybody bloody Oh I wish I was a little piece of glass etc. I know there were more verses, the elementary school kids used to sing it on the bus when I was in kindergarten 1970-71.

I loved chinese jacks! I used to play them with my childhood friend, Naomi, for hours on my green living room carpet. Thanks for your excellent description… I would have never remembered how we played. 🙂 Karen

I remember throwing the ball against the wall and catching it, then throwing against the wall and letting it bounce once. We would throw the ball and have to spin around once and catch it. I also remember an under the leg throw. Maybe we did throw and clap before catching it on one. I wish I could remember it more clearly! For how much we played this I really should remember!

I have been trying to remember a similiar spaldeen game to Russian 10, however, the rules I remember are a little different: 1 – one (throw ball and clap once) 2 – twos(throw ball and clap twice) 3 – threes (throw ball and clap 3x) 4 – highzies (throw ball up high) 5 – lowzies (throw ball low) 6 – around the world (throw ball and roll arms) 7 – touch my shoulders 8 – touch my toes 9 – under your leg then you do it in combination. Anyone know anymore or how the “song” goes?
