More Help please! I’m trying to find a children’s book that has character called riki tiki timbo (sp?). Much of the book revoloves around the name of this character that, if I remember right goes on and on a bit. Not exactly a song, I know, but I’m hoping someone will know the book I mean and can give me a title and an author. thanks!

Does anyone remember the rhyme that begins easy ivy over? I think it says something like Here comes the teacher with the big fat stick, I wonder what she has for arithmetic…but that’s all I remember. Can anyone help me out? I am from NYC now living in Brownsville, Texas where the girls don’t even jump rope by themselves. I am attempting to show them how. I start on Friday. Any suggestions?

I was a tomboy and played stickball and all sorts of ‘boy’ games…the boys were so much ‘funner’ than the girls…you can be ‘one of the guys’ your whole life and they will fall in love with you and you will get more guys than you can imagine..because you’re comfortable with them… I did…and am happily married to my love. This is such a neat site! I got my nieces chinese jumpropes for Christmas and I am trying to find directions for them since they live far away. I played it growing up in Hawaii, but we never sang rhymes to it. We just did 10-20-30…and when we got to 100 we would land on the ropes with both feet. We used to play it during recess at school. Chinese checkers too!

Does anyone remember the…

Does anyone remember the flames game? It was this paper game where the girl would write down her full name, and the full name of the guy she liked. Then she would cross out all the letters that matched up in both names. Then she would count up the letters and get a number. With that number she will start counting through the word flames. Like for example, if the number was 7, she would start counting at f. f is 1, l is 2 and so on. So the 1st letter to be crossed out would be F. And you would continue on until you had 1 letter left. Then that letter was supposed to be the fate of the girl and the guy. Now, if anyone remembers this game, what does the letters A and S stand for? I know F was friends, L was love, M was marriage, E was enemies, but I can’t remember the other two. Does anyone remember what they mean?

I remember it as… Down…

I remember it as… Down town baby. Down by the roller coaster. Sweet sweet baby. Don’t let ‘ya momma know. Shimmee shimmee cocoa ba. Shimme shimme p-ie. Oooh cheechie wawa tabisco. I’ve got another tabisco. Just like cherry pie tabisco. The “clapping rhythm” of this was one hand face down, other hand face up, while your partner did the opposite. Therefore, you were clapping with your partner but hands were vertical, not horizontal. Also, with the word tabisco you would take your right hand and make a motion like an up calling an out, thumb pointed over your shoulder and then down. I have NO idea why it was done this way, or what any of the words mean. However, it was something that definitely occupied time during recess for many years.
