Turtle master is a playground game when i was a kid, now its become a drinking game for me and my friends… The rules are, the turtle master begins by saying one line and you go around in a cirle repeating the line without messing up, if you mess up you have to drink and start all over again! TURTLE MASTER: one fat hen a couple duck 3 brown bear 4 running hare 5 fat fickle females sitting on a stump 6 simple simones sitting sipping scotch 7 sinbad sailors, sailing, sailing the 7 seas 8 egotistical egglets echoing in egotistical extasy 9 nude nubians nibbling nuts nads and nictoine 10: you’ll never be a turtle master or a turtle masters friend but you’ll always be a turtle master til the mother f-ing end!

anybody remember any of the rhymes where everyone would put one foot in and someone would recite a rhyme while sort of tapping each person’s foot and when the rhyme stopped you’d take your foot out until there was just one person left and that person would be “IT”?

How about: Dum dum doh doh, catch me if you can. i can run faster than “so-and-so” can. The person named had to chase you, jumping once and circling around until someone missed the rope or the caller got caught. Played this in Detroit in the late 50’s, early 60’s

I grew up in Jersey City in the 70’s and we played this game called Caps(Skully) it was fun and I ruined many gallons of milk by stealing the tops of the containers. I also ruined a lot of pairs of sneakers dragging my feet across the board. We used play dough or melted wax with a penny in the middle to add extra weight. Also i dont remember all the rules you have listed here so I beleive we played a modified version sure brings back memories

In the 1,2,3, O’Leary game the first time through we just bounced the ball. The second time through we said “Carnation” instead of “O’Leary” and we crossed one foot over the other as we said “Carnation”. Then we went on to the leg over the ball saying “O’Leary”. We crossed our legs over from the outside in and from the inside out with right and left. We twirled on “O’Leary” somewhere in the game and clapped also.

How wonderful that these games are coming back. I played “A my name is Alice. My husband’s name is Al. We come from Alabama and our product is Ajax.” Also played 1,2,3, O’Leary but in the early 50’s in Washington state, I thought it was “1,2,3, Alarry”. We played “7- Up” with a ball against the wall also. In both these last two ball games there were steps of increasing difficulty. In my memory I think I am getting O’Leary and 7-Up confused. Any hints?

I just spent about a half hour last night explaining the game Skully, that I played as a kid in Brooklyn (1965 Canarsie)to my wife and kids. Could not believe it when I found this website. I’m gonna spend some time this weekend making a few caps. Don’t know if the rest of the family will play but I sure am going to. Thanks!
