I’m 56 years old and grew up in South Philly.Does anyone remember playing “Dead Box” with bottle caps(beeries). The field of play was the street (little street) or schoolyard where the blocks were numbered 1 to 15 in chalk. If you landed in the box where a skull was drawn you lost 3 turns(I think). After going through the boxes in sequence…someone was always trying to knock your beerie down the street, you had to go in the dead box three times. You shined your beerie on the curb to make it slide better.

Streetplay Discussion Archive Posted on January 30, 2000 by Streetplay DiscussionsNovember 19, 2014

I just learned about tip-cat from my British father-in-law last night. What are the rules, and how do you score? Also, does anyone remember playing “one old cat”,”two old cat”,”three old cat”,or any of those baseball games you could play w/out a full # of players? I’d love to know how to play those games again.

Bubble gum cigars, jujubees, Pez, candy necklaces that would melt all over your starched and stiff party dress, Good Humor and Carnival Ice Cream trucks – those disgusting soap tasting violets.

Streetplay Discussion Archive Posted on January 27, 2000 by Streetplay DiscussionsNovember 14, 2014

In Queens and Nassau Counties in the 40’s we girls collected and traded pictures of movie stars cut out of the various movie magazines: Photoplay was one, Modern Screen another. Favorites of mine were Sonya Henne and Nelson Eddy.

This is so tacky that I’m remaining anonymous. But I remember being taught this song in the early 70’s in “the hood”, where my aunt and her family lived. Of course, you remember the trash when you’re a child: Your left, Your left Your left, right left My back is aching, my belts too tight My booty’s shaking from left to right abracadabra, soda crackers, evolution, revolution eat the back of my butt, eat the back of my butt Your momma, your poppa your greasy granny, got a hole in her panties And a big behind, like frankenstein going beep-beep-beep down Sesame Street.
