To L on the Pink Pajamas…

Streetplay Discussion Archive Posted on November 27, 2000 by Streetplay DiscussionsMay 9, 2019

To L on the Pink Pajamas song: I wear my Pink Pajamas in the summer when it’s hot. I wear my flannel nightie in the winter when it’s not. And sometimes in the springtime and sometimes in the fall. I jump into my little bed with nothin’ on at all. That’s the time you oughta see me. That’s the time you oughta see me. That’s the time you oughta see me. When I jump into my little bed with nothin’ on at all. Of course, when we sang it, we would change the chorus to: That’s the time you oughta see her. (and point to one of our friends) This brought on the second chorus: Nosey, Nosey what’s it to you. Nosey, Nosey what’s it to you. Nosey, Nosey what’s it to you. If I jump into my little bed with nothin’ on at all?

Thanks for all of the great…

Streetplay Discussion Archive Posted on November 27, 2000 by Streetplay DiscussionsFebruary 2, 2019

Thanks for all of the great information. I think I finally have enough information for my Girl Scout Brownie Troop. I have been racking my brain trying to remember how we played Chinese jumprope. It was about to drive me nuts. Thanks for giving me my memory back. At 46 the game was really under some cobwebs!! What a relief!! Now if I could just remember some of the rhymes we sang. All I can remember is: “I like coffee, I like tea, I’d like (name) to jump in with me me” That is when there are two jumpers. Is that Double Dutch? We played this kind of jumprope in Miami Fla in the 60’s.

The rest of Miss Suzy(to me it was always Miss Lucy) is “the boys and girls are kissing in the D,A,R,K, D,A,R,K, D,A,R,K, dark, dark, dark!” Does anyone know the words to Miss Lucy(or Suzy) had a baby, she named him Tiny Tim? or My little playmate, come out and play with me?

Streetplay Discussion Archive Posted on November 20, 2000 by Streetplay DiscussionsNovember 19, 2014

I grew up in Queens (Sunnyside, then Jackson Heights). It was always a “sliding pond.” When there was a parkie at the school playground (PS 149)we would get a Nok-Hockey set. I bought one for my oldest son some years back and we still have it in the basement and play it occasionally. The pucks are now plastic instead of wood. No splinters.

Streetplay Discussion Archive Posted on November 20, 2000 by Streetplay DiscussionsOctober 18, 2014

I am an artist and plan on creating an art piece made up of all kinds of hopscotch boards. I’m interested in different ways people made their boards. For example, I plan on making one out of sand, one of twigs, and one of cloth. Do you have any other ideas on what I could use to create these boards. In some boxes I’m going to use words and photos instead of numbers. Any ideas or stories about this game would be helpful. Thank you

If you can’t find a stoop…

Streetplay Discussion Archive Posted on November 19, 2000 by Streetplay DiscussionsNovember 19, 2000

If you can’t find a stoop buy a few cement blocks and stack them against a wall. When I discovered that Spaldeens were available again I bought two and then built a “stoop” in my basement with about $ 10 worth of concrete blocks. This has been a lot of fun and exercise for this 47 year -old as well as reliving some great memories.

Young lady, I have gone…

Streetplay Discussion Archive Posted on November 17, 2000 by Streetplay DiscussionsNovember 17, 2000

Young lady, I have gone across country on a truck back in my teens when the serial killers were really rampant and I suggest that you be careful. Even with your young lover there are diseases. I’m sure your boyfriend has told you about the women that offer themselves to truckers. Some of them are old enough to be his mom. You don’t want to catch somethin’ you can’t throw back. It’s amazing to me that your parents would let you do this, my parents died when I was very young so no one really “cared” what I did in my teens. If they care about you and you care enough to listen to them if they say this doesn’t sound like the healthiest life for a girl your age, listen to them. Don’t get worn out and used up before your age, young girl. It’s been done too many time and time slips away faster than you know. PS: Not to mention, if you get pregnant and your boyfriend is still on the road with some non-pregnant young girl. Think, youngin’, please think.
