Chuck – You’re getting Ricki Ticki Tavi mixed up with Ricki Ticki Tembo. Ricki Ticki Tavi is the mongoose, Ricki Ticki Tembo is the Chinese boy who fell down the well. The book (Ricki Ticki Tembo)is still in print by the way. I’m re-living my childhood with my little boy.

Lisa, thanks! That was one of my favorites. Brain’s a little rusty, but I’m going to give it a shot: Going to Kentucky, going to the fair, I met a senorita with flowers in her hair, Oh, shake it baby, shake it; shake it if you can Shake it like a milk shake, then do it once again Oh, rumba to the bottom; rumba to the top Turn around and turn around until you make a STOP! There you go. That was fun.

That reminds me of a little poem my dad used to recite to me: A flea and a fly in a flue Were imprisoned, so what could they do? Said the flea, “Let us fly;” Said the fly, “Let us flee;” So they flew through a flaw in the flue.

My daughter has been singing a clapping song that I used to sing. She sings it very differently. I can’t seem to remember how I used to play it. It goes something like this. ‘When ??? was a baby, a baby, a baby ….. She went oh ah oh ah ah.’ As you can see, I don’t remember much of it. It goes on to when, I think Sally, was a toddler, teenager, adult. Does anyone remember this one?

Fried ham fried ham cheese and balogna and after the macaroni we’ll have onions and pickles and (something) and then we’ll have some more fried ham fried ham fried ham Second verse same as the first under water and a whole lot worse (then you try and sound like you’re singing under water… or like a baby, or really loud, or really quiet, or whatever) Drove our guide leaders insane. 🙂
