Streetplay Discussion Archive Posted on March 14, 2000 by Streetplay DiscussionsMarch 14, 2000

Seems like everyone wants to know the same thing…. what were those rules????? Well it isn’t the rules but it is a great site on “the games we used to play” !!!! http://www.gameskidsplay.net/index.html I still haven’t found the rules but did find this: Like the jump rope used in double dutch this one requires two holders and a jumper. Unlike the tradional jump rope the rope is not in motion but as the jumper jumps in and out the rope is raised until it is finally touched by the jumper. Touching the rope causes the jumper to loose their turn. Happy Jumping!

It looks like I am not the only teacher and mother wanting to revive a game I played many years ago. I too am looking for instructions for playing Chinese Jump Rope. I think we knotted a long piece of elastic, and . . .

Streetplay Discussion Archive Posted on March 9, 2000 by Streetplay DiscussionsOctober 18, 2014

We used to Play in Hackensack New Jersey Either Full teams of over 6 players both sides or one on one in underground lot stickball which i am almost positive was invented by us over 25 years ago! Anyway when we played on the street, we only played fast pitch, we had a catcher and one of the fathers would be an ump. The only home run was about 2.5 sewers, the end of the block. We used only Street Hockey balls if anyone familiar with them knows, they have no bounce whatsoever. bases were two telephone poles and the first sewer, a sewer was home plate. The underground parking version was totally different, one on one but with multiple teams, meaning that 4 people would be four teams, you only got one out, the rules would take forever to write out, but if anyone is interested i am more than willing to share! We actually kep records, ERA’s, Home runs, etc… we would play every single day, when it rained… underground! when it was nice, outside! When the street was crowded we hit the parking lot! jim That is the only thing i can say i truly miss doing from my youth I would love to find a stickball league!

Does anyone remeber the rules to Chinese Jump Rope? I would love to teach my daugter who could pass it on to a whole new generation of kids. All I remember is 2 people hold the rope around their ankles and one person jumps in and out. I think the rope is moved up as the jumber becomes proficient.

Streetplay Discussion Archive Posted on March 8, 2000 by Streetplay DiscussionsFebruary 2, 2019

I have occasionally found the “real” old-fashioned metal jacks at Walmart. I have also just ordered 5 dozen of them from www.oriental.com for a Girl Scout event I am conducting on “Games of Yesteryear.” One really needs the metal jacks as the ones made from plastic do not have the right “weight” to them and “skitter.” I was hoping to find a website giving the old rhymes to the game. I used to play it, but don’t remember the rhymes. Any help?

Hi! I’ll be honest and say I can’t double dutch at all. But I would love to learn how! I teach 5th graders and the girls and I have been trying to teach each other how. We can turn the ropes and jump in…and that’s where it stops. Does anyone know where to find how to keep going or have any pointers? Thanks a bunch.

I’m 16 and have recently started serious stunt pogo sticking. I’ve already ripped one pogo in half in two month and I’m starting on my second. I’m also currently working on a design for a better stunt pogo. As far as I know, I’m the only one in the world that is still does anything besided jump up and down on these things. Send imput if you’d like to or visit my stunt pogo homepage I’m building at http://www.redrival.com/pogo
