Does anyone out there remember…
Does anyone out there remember all the steps involved in a game called “Russian”???? We used to play it in Queens in the mid-60’s…..involves a “pinky” thrown again an apt.wall while doing a bunch of things in numerical order…. Also, I remember Chinese Handball too (and Saludgee…sp?)- also, in Queens in the mid-60’s played on the street against apt.retention walls….

How about Johnny the Ice Cream Man and Charlie the Knish Man from the Sheepshead Bay area? Man, were those Knishes good with the all the salt Charlie put into those waxy bags. And Johnny, if he caught you buying ice cream from Good Humor or Bungalow Bar, he’d give you a good scoulding about only buying from him with his unitelligable chatter. Anyone remember these guys?

thanks for your help about the Jacks rhymes and actually yes a sort of equivalent game was in France also. We call this ” play at knuckle bones” and as you figure , instead of jacks , things looking like sort of knuckle bones were thrown in the air but I don’t remember neither the material nor the the game itself. I guess this was smething from the previous generations.

We played a game called…
We played a game called Box Baseball. You would play with another person between 3 boxes. Someone would dig their fingers into the “pinkie” or spaldeen and throw it into the box in front of you. You then would slap it into the box in front of your opponent. If he caught it, you’re out. If it bounced once, a sindle 2 bounces, a double, etc. Great game to play anywhere there was concrete sidewalks. Anybody remember this game?
