I went to PS 94 off Gun Hill rd and juinor high school 80. My mom and uncles went their too. I went to JFK High school in riverdale. Now I live in the country outside of Buffalo. My favorite teachers in 94 were Mr. Cohen woodshop, My band teacher can’t remember his name. In junior high, My math teacher and softball coach was Don Cutler, Mr. Miranda was my homeroom and spanish teacher. In high school there was a lunch room attendent who sat at the door. He wore cowboy boots and read louis l’mour westerns. I looked forward to seeing him everyday. I even started reading his books. His name is Jim McGlynn. Jerry Cioffi was a dean and my track coach. I wish I could find him, he was my best friend back then. If anyone went to these schools please write.

Hi, My brother and I went sent to a camp that my mother and her brothers went to called Bronx House Emanuel. It was a sleep away in Kopeke New york, It was a Jewish camp, we are catholic. Fortunately it was low income funded and they loved to have my brother and I attend every year. I loved that camp. I went in the 70’s. They had a teenage camp across the lake and an old folks camp too. Any body out there been to that camp. I had my first boyfriend thier (Jimmy o’neil), and crushes on the counselors, water safety instructor (jim sandler). If any one remembers Douglas or Donna Eifler drop me a line.

Streetplay Discussion Archive Posted on October 15, 2001 by Streetplay DiscussionsOctober 15, 2001

I seem to remmember “All The Girls In France” slightly differedntly: All the girls in France Do the Hula-Hula Dance And the way they shake is enough to kill a snake when the snake is dead they put bullets in its head with a final sigh they put diamonds in its eyes when they pull them out then the snake begins to shout! Actually, I’ve been looking for the ‘definative’ version of this song for some time. If anyone knows any other versions please let me know. -JoeK.

I played Hard Ball with…

Streetplay Discussion Archive Posted on October 15, 2001 by Streetplay DiscussionsNovember 13, 2014

I played Hard Ball with Steve when I was 13 years old and He was 15. Steve showed me how to throw a curveballl and how to play shortstop. I watched everything he did because he did it so well. Even at such a young age, he had such great leadership qualities that looking at the other notes, he touched many more lives with those same qualities. Most of all, He brought that great Stevie Mercado smile right at you, razzing you a bit sometimes but saying… hey man.. you can do this. We can do this… we can do something great… and he did… for many. All these years later, I am touched by him in this tragic event but in looking at the notes and how he touched others, he is still showing me how to play the field. My heart goes out to the Mercado family.

CHINESE JUMPROPE RULES I…

Streetplay Discussion Archive Posted on October 15, 2001 by Streetplay DiscussionsOctober 20, 2014

CHINESE JUMPROPE RULES I REMEMBER: Different people have different styles of it, i remember… when i played it we didn’t have any songs or chants going on, but people would chant their traditional order of stepping. The one I knew went: “In, Out, Side to Side, In, Out, On!” In: both feet inside Out: both feet outside Side to Side: both feet on either side of one long side of the jumprope, then on the other On: both feet on the opposite long sides of the jumprope. After passing one level, the setup of the jumprope would switch. If i remember correctly, the order went something like this: (the names might not be the real ones) Rectangle – each holder’s feet shoulder-width apart Two Feet – two feet together One Foot – jumprope only goes around one foot of each holder Pizza – one holder does Rectangle, the other One Foot, creating a triangle shape X’s – like rectangle, but with twisting the rope to make an X shape instead of a box Back and Forth – the holders would move their legs back and forth, making the jumprope move Shakesies – the holders shake their legs so that the jumprope moves randomly After going through those levels (i think there were more but i can’t remember them, although i think most of the names ended in “-ies”), the holders would raise the jumprope to higher levels, such as to the knee. Then you would have to do the whole thing all over again, but double-tapping at each step. If you got through all of that, too, you would get to triple-tapping, etc.

Thanks for the rules and…

Streetplay Discussion Archive Posted on October 13, 2001 by Streetplay DiscussionsOctober 18, 2014

Thanks for the rules and pictures. I am 36, female, originally from the Bronx. Just recently I have been thinking alot about the games I used to play in the streets. I lived on Decatur and 211th. We played stoopball, stickball, skullies climbed the cemetary walls, made motion potions.. whatever we could do. Kids now a days, I dunno, too many toys, no imagination. We live in the country now, I just purchased a nok hockey game, like I used to play at The Oval Park. A simple game and my 5 year old daughter loves playing. I would like to teach someone to play skullies with me, I miss that stuff. It was nice finding this website.

Streetplay Discussion Archive Posted on October 12, 2001 by Streetplay DiscussionsNovember 13, 2014

Tuesday night FIREWORKS from the Boardwalk and Shatzkins knishes and the best Pizza ever! Making out UNDER THE BOARDWALK and the kewpie dolls and the FREAK shows……The parachute ride was the best…remember having to take your sandals off before you rode up? The terrific view up and the SCARY ride down, and how it ‘bounced’ when you landed? I live in Orlando, now, but the Coney Island of my childhood is forever in my mind, forever in my heart.. Suzie
