That was for all the big kids.Lawn darts,Moms pots on your head for a helmet. Garbage can lids for shields. Made in Japan toys, tin cars and tanks, some had friction power, some had the wire on them with batteries, early remote controll.Tons of army, cowboys and indian sets with horses wagons and forts.Colorforms was big then.Paint by number sets ,i still see these at flea markets from time to time.RatFink stuff,TROLLS,rabbitsfoot, real ones for good luck,i still have one.Monster and car, plane ,boat models, with the glue we all inhaled while spending hours glueing models,Testors model paint. Toys and sports and fads all had a season,i dont know who controlled it,or said ,ok its yoyo season,it just happened.Getting tropical fish back then was the new thing,i remember ED’S AQUARIUM. Green turtles, and baby alligators, parakettes too. Well……….SALOOGEEE!

Streetplay Discussion Archive Posted on January 27, 2009 by Streetplay DiscussionsFebruary 2, 2019

Big cardboard boxes, from stoves or the best a refrigerator box! Rare items back then, the best for rolling down hills. Or cut windows out for a secret hideout. For boys it was, ball game stuff, guns, tops yoyos.Girls it was dolls and doll stuff,.thats about as simple as i remember it back then.We all had board games, and things like Fascination,REMCO Fascination, the game you love to play! I found one at a yard sale, box is dated 1961,and it still works! Original price;$4.12.Have a great day and…..SALOOGEEE!!

Streetplay Discussion Archive Posted on January 26, 2009 by Streetplay DiscussionsJanuary 3, 2020

Yes, Pensie Pinkies were hollow, pink rubber balls, just like Spaldeens. But Pensie Pinkies were a lot softer, maybe because they had less air in them, or maybe the rubber was thinner. In any case, because they were softer, Pensie Pinkies were easy to “fluke” (put a spin on the ball by squeezing it between thumb and knuckles as you tossed it. (Very good for Box Baseball.) I don’t recall any sponge rubber ball. You’da got kicked out of the neighborhood for that. Steve S.

Sorry my message above doesnt belong in the skully posts. BUT, i havent read all the skully posts on the size of the board, but the NYC PARKS DEPT. used to paint these in yellow in most parks, has anyone checked with them, they may have old records on file. As i remember they all where the same size in the parks, they must have had a templete to make them all the same.I hope this helps.

Buy a free standing basketball…

Streetplay Discussion Archive Posted on January 26, 2009 by Streetplay DiscussionsJanuary 26, 2009

Buy a free standing basketball stand, chip in with others and give it to the kids,on one condition, play somewhere else. It may be a very nice way to settle your problem, and shouldnt break anyones bank account. Chip in and get a chain and lock,so it stays there too.Good luck,i too like kids playing, but the basketball bouncing noise will drive you nuts!

True story; looked down a sewer in queens for spaldeens, the water was jet black,i saw things moving,it was goldfish with there mouths gulping for air. Ill never forget that contrast of the black water and orange heads popping out.

Very nice, and i guess true everywhere,im happy for the way it was and sad for whats become of the trusting world of our youth.Seems like somewhere in the mid to late 1960’s things went down hill.
