Being rather uncoordinated, Chinese jumprope was just my cup of tea! We did the colored-rubberbands knotted together thing and went through a series of “moves,” always in sets of ten. But despite my inherent clumsiness, I still loved regular jumprope because I loved the chanting– “Keep the kettle boiling, have to be on time” with the continuous flow of girls through the turning rope… “Ice cream soda with a cherry on top/What’s the first initial of your sweetheart/Is it A, B, C….” Sigh…. no wonder I was skinny then…..
