I remember these huge acorn trees that circled my old elementry school, (p.s. 105, Bronx), my sister and I would collect all the acorns on the floor, we had bags and bags full. Than we would go to war with the boys who lived on our block. That’ll teach them not to put hair removal cream on the eggs that they would throw at us on Halloween. Anybody ever play asses up? Well, if you dropped the ball, you better run to the wall because if someone threw it faster than you could run you get a letter, and if you got all 3 letters, everyone got a chance to throw the ball at your ass. OOUUCCHH!!!!

I am also looking for a hippity hop for my grandaughter. She sits on balls all the time and I am afraid she will get hurt since there is no handle on them and she is only two years old. Please let me know if you have any ideas…

I remember double riding my sister on my bike’s handlebars. She’d sit right there on the front of the bike with her feet dangling down. How hard it was to turn with her on there, because of the weight. Also riding with no hands was so cool. When I mastered that, I thought I’d do better and try to ride with no hands and no feet. Needless to say, it didn’t work out so well…

I’m building a nok hockey board from a picture. Could anyone tell me a few specifics? What is the size of the goal opening and the puck? How about the block in front of the goal, the size and it’s distance from the goal? I’ve made frame and board, but any other measurements are welcome. Thanks in advance.

Here I am, Age 38, born and raised in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, only girl on the block–Still have my skate key–it’s on the same key ring with my Suburban keys. One of my fondest memories, my Dad taking me to Triangle on 5th Ave & 83rd Street for a pair of Chicago Rollers Shoe Skates–black, of course. Mom was pissed, so was my brother. But I played a mean roller derby. Hockey was my forte’. Now, had a great pair of roller blades, 11 year old son trashed them. Now, I am the Mom, and I am pissed.

Mom bought me a siren for my bike. It was made of sheetmetal. It was cylindrical, ~5″ in diameter flat on one end and bowl shaped on the other with the impeller shaft sticking out. It attached to one fork with brackets, and there was a chain from the siren to the handle bar. Once riding we would pull the chain which would engage the impeller shaft against the front wheel. THE SOUND WAS GREAT. A real siren just like the large air sirens you see on the front bumper of fire trucks today. As the impeller gained speed the LOUD siren’s pitch would get higher and higher. When you let go of the chain the siren would slowly reduce in pitch and volume. So pull it again, ride faster!! WOW what a sound! OH NO my poor neighbors. I didn’t realize, I was only 10. Sure would like to find a siren for my 10 year old son :’)
