I’m looking for a book that had the game roly poly in it. The post office lost it for me 15 years ago. When I originally found this book, I was so excited because they mentioned the game roly poly and how to play it. I remember we had different subjects in the boxes,i.e. fruits, cars etc.

Anyone know where I can view a picture of a full hopscotch “board”? I can’t remember how they were laid out, and none of the playgrounds around here have one. Thanks!

We called the game potsie in Queens in the late 40’s and early 50’s. I wrote a children’s story about something that actually happened to me. I used to play it with my cousin who is a boy and once humiliated him by announcing it in public. He still remembers being very embarrassed!

we played lots of playground games like: elastics, no laughing no talking no redlights, marbles, hopscotch, skipping in lots of forms, and there seemed to be lots of rhymes to decide who was ‘it’. Abbin a babbin, tima toma tuma toma tusa, and a counting one that I have forgotten the details of and of course eenie meenie.

Does anyone remember Roly Poly??? Boxes like hopscotch, but you rolled a Spaldeen into boxes one to eight and had to catch it before it went out of the sides.

I remember “Heel” as someone earlier called it Potsie, six boxes, 3 and six were the “rest” boxes, I remember all of us going to the shoe maker begging for rubber heels!!! My gosh I thought we only played that!!!

Does anyone remember playing Giant Steps? And I had great fun playing punchball, red light green light, red rover, potsy, stoop ball, I declare war on …., hit the penny, hot potato and other city kid games. We really used our imaginations, got lots of exercise, and learned how to get along with others and organize ourselves. I feel sorry for the kids today. They are so programmed by adults.
