Pennsy Pinkies were introduced…

Streetplay Discussion Archive Posted on October 28, 2003 by Streetplay DiscussionsJanuary 3, 2020

Pennsy Pinkies were introduced during my childhood, in the sixties, so it’s clear that kids from the fifties and earlier would not know them. I remember how excited I was when I was told that there were these great new balls that were better than spaldeens. They did have the Pennsylvania keystone symbol on them. “Hindu” was the do-over term specifically for when the ball took a really bad bounce because of a rock or something on the ground. I found out the derivation of the term when a kid from out of town, during a handball game in the schoolyard, called “hinder” when the ball hit a rock on the court. That told me that the word referred to a hindrance on the playing field.

Dear Ridgecliffe, The only circle game I know was done in a circle at girl scouts and it was Right hand palm down, left hand palm u and you slapped the hand of the person on your right( whose hand would be palm up) then slap your right thigh once then slap your left thigh once then slap the underside of your left hand once and the your palm twice. then you reverse the direction. It was sung to Edelweiss, from the Sound of Music. Does anyone remember Quacklidilioso?

wow, am I glad I found this discussion. I was trying to teach my niece Concentration, and didn’t remember some crucial parts. Now here is how I played it as a kid: Concentration/are you ready/if so/let’s go/starting/with names/of boys/one apiece/no repeats… then the first girl shouts out a name beginning with the letter A, the next girl shouts out a name beginning with B…

Streetplay Discussion Archive Posted on October 18, 2003 by Streetplay DiscussionsOctober 18, 2003

my first kiss happened about a month ago. we were riding home from a football game on a BAND BUS. the whole way home i was curled up in his lap with his arm around me and my head on his shoulder, but as we pulled back into our school, he lifted his head off of mine, and i looked up to see what he was doing, and he leaned in and kissed me! it wasnt just a peck, but it wasnt frenching or anything. it was just an awesome and scary feeling that i absolutely love.

i think Steve was a great person. He taught me never to give up,when my team was playing stickball. We had about 2 games with him and lost, but that’s when he told me not to give-up.I think what happened to him is awful and should be given respect.

Streetplay Discussion Archive Posted on October 8, 2003 by Streetplay DiscussionsOctober 8, 2003

I use to sing “Down by the river” that went. Down by the river with a hanky panky Saw a bull frog jump from bank to bank he said, “E-I-O-U Your momma stinks and so do you” King Kong, donky kong went to school with nothing on asked the teacher what to wear poka dotted underwear not to big not to small just the size of the broward mall You sat in a circle and everyone had their hand on the persons next to them. I just know that there was one that went something like My name is L-I-L-I jiggle I jiggle I bomb bomb booty chinese checkers ani-ani freeze. Anyone remember that one?
