My niece (10 yrs old) saw a casting agent yesterday that told her they get a lot of calls for children that can double-dutch. She is now interested in learning but we don’t know anything about it. Does anyone here have a recommendation of a movie or documentary featuring jumprope competitions?

PS 195, in the early 70’s. Had a friend named Randy (girl). She had a llittle brother named Adam. Don’t remember her older sister’s name. I beat up a girl bully for her. Liked a boy named Butch. I think I saw him years later and he’d become a cop. I miss that school. I liked that we had Spring Fest, where we chose a boy to pretend to marry and we crawled beneath tableclothed tables, where in the dark we had to put our hands in bowls of worms (wet spaghetti). Fun was innocent and pure back then. I think little kids nowadays would get a kick out of it, still.

Does anyone know a rhyme…

Streetplay Discussion Archive Posted on March 21, 2006 by Streetplay DiscussionsOctober 18, 2014

Does anyone know a rhyme that starts out: Flea Fly, Flea Fly Flo Ooh atten watten totten and goes on from there–I can’t remember the rest. It’s quite a long tongue twister as I recall–and very fun to clap with. Any versions you remember would be great! Thanks from a music teacher who is collecting some rhymes for my classes.

Does anyone remember “Chinese Jumprope” 3RD grade version back in the 80’s? We used long elastics like 5ft connected around two other persons ankles, and jumped into a large circle and then we did some kind of stepping in and out and jumping over . Does this sound familiar to anyone????

Streetplay Discussion Archive Posted on March 14, 2006 by Streetplay DiscussionsMarch 14, 2006

I remember the Jacks games of babies, baskets, barns, upcasts, downcasts – there were also no bounce upcasts and downcasts, and upcast snatchemgrabbers, and downcast snatchemgrabbers….. Anyone remember these? Seems like there were ‘stars’ where you tossed the jack into the air and caught it in your free hand…

Streetplay Discussion Archive Posted on March 14, 2006 by Streetplay DiscussionsJanuary 3, 2020

In the East Bronx in the ’50s, Spaldeens were the ball of choice; Pennsy Pinkies were second choice. Ethan Robbins could punch a Spaldeen over the outfield fence. I was in awe. But I have a question. Did they always say “Spalding High-Bounce Ball” on them? I seem to remember them saying “Spaldeen”.
